City 3D brings high end Stereo3D to Mexico with Pablo

Leading Mexico City post house puts Quantel at the heart of its Stereo3D workflow

City 3D

has upgraded its Pablo system to 4K and Stereo3D. The move establishes City 3D as the only 2K S3D house in Mexico – setting the company up for its push into high quality Stereo3D production and post for movies, corporates and large events.

City 3D is an autonomous division of a well-established facility that specialises in producing high quality work for the commercials and corporate sectors. City 3D is currently post-producing an S3D trailer for a documentary about Tajin, a major Mexican archaeological site. Preparations are also well advanced for a challenging multi-camera 3D shoot and full post production package for both a major music event and soccer match.

As it takes on more and more Stereo3D work, City 3D is looking to partner with another post house with complementary expertise and find new premises for the venture. “We are the high end, shooting live action 3D with proper rigs, cameras and facilities, all under the eye of our experienced Stereographer and DP Damian Aguilar,” said Ana Leticia Reyes, General Manager of City 3D. “We also pride ourselves on being very focused on the needs of the client, and for post Pablo’s interactive realtime operation is perfect for client attended sessions. Indeed the Stereographer and VFX Supervisor, Juan Ignacio Sanchez, who has worked worldwide with many S3D platforms and has guested with City 3D on several projects, says that Pablo is the best finishing tool a stereographer could have.

“Our artists also like the Pablo very much. There are not many Pablo artists in Mexico currently but the release of the Neo panel for Pablo has made it much easier for artists to transfer their skills from other systems. We are also training one of our artists to be a Stereo3D specialist; in fact we have invested a lot in training and will continue to do so,” Reyes continued. “We intend to continue to be the premier S3D house in Mexico as this exciting new medium continues to grow, and we are also looking to expand our business into the USA and Latin America, where we can deliver real budget savings as well as great creativity.”

“Quantel gives us good service and support, and also handles the complex customs paperwork for us directly, which is also a great help. Most of our staff don’t speak English, so it’s great to be supported by the Spanish speaking Quantel staff that look after us,” Reyes concluded.
