New Cost-Effective Prime-Cache5
Making its world debut at NAB 2011, the cost-effective Prime-Cache5 (MSRP: $7,995) is a new version of the well-established LTO-4 based Prime-Cache (MSRP: $5,995) and has been upgraded with an LTO-5 drive and a 2TB hard disc drive in an improved chassis. It now features 10 times faster direct-attached transfers with USB 3.0. Optimized for desktop applications, Prime-Cache5 is compact and quiet in the Prime-Cache tradition.
New High-Performance Power-Cache Archive Appliance Server
The new Power-Cache (MSRP: $16,495) is a high-performance archive appliance server that combines appliance functionality with much more processing power and faster I/O for faster archives and restores. It also offers greater flexibility for staging content, making duplicate tape copies and moving data to and from removable media. Featuring 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) connectivity, Power-Cache is a high-performance blend of LTO-5 tape drives and hard disk drive technologies with an expandable 8TB of RAID. This compact one rack-unit server appliance can control up to four library systems or external LTO-5 tape drives at full speed.
New LTFS Software
Cache-A will be showing a software upgrade that adds LTFS capabilities to all of its LTO-5 based archive appliances. LTFS is based on open source software and enables users to interchange content across different operating systems, software applications and physical locations. Now users can choose to save their content in the emerging LTFS open standard format and still have all of the benefits of Cache-A’s catalog database, networking capabilities and ease of use.
Other New Features
Continuing in Cache-A’s tradition of Archiving Made Easy™, some of the important new features being demonstrated this year at NAB include:
• Accommodating advanced workflows through integration with key applications from a growing list of third party developers
• Catalog sharing to tie together multi-appliance installations
• Tape cartridge duplication to make it easier and faster to create multiple tape copies
