Cache-A Debuts Archive Appliances for Today’s File-based Workflows at NAB 2010, Including Revolutionary Pro-Cache5, One of First LTO-5 Products

— Archiving Acquisition Sources, Post Projects and Content Assets Made Easy, Economical, Interchangeable and Future-proof –

Morgan Hill, Calif., April 12, 2010

– A leading supplier of network-attached archive appliances for the digital film, broadcast and professional video industries, Cache-A is featuring upgrades to its acclaimed Pro-Cache platform – including the world debut of its revolutionary Pro-Cache5, one of the first LTO-5 products to be introduced — at this year’s National Association of Broadcasters Convention (NAB 2010). Cache-A is also showcasing enhancements to its Prime-Cache archive appliance and integration with CatDV’s asset manager at NAB 2010 in Booth SL7906 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas, NV, April 12-15.

“As HD evolves into 3D, digital film and video professionals using file-based workflows need a highly reliable, secure and cost-effective storage medium for content archiving, access and interchange, said Phil Ritti, President and CEO of Cache-A Corporation. “With its advanced feature set and ease of use, our new Pro-Cache5 promises to become the new industry standard back-up solution. Now with upgrades to automated robotic libraries and our integration with CatDV, Cache-A solutions are an even easier and more cost-effective way to manage terabytes of archived data in a professional media environment.

Pro-Cache5 is Cache’s revolutionary archive appliance for digital film, broadcast and video professionals working with file-based workflows. One of the first LTO-5 products on the market, Pro-Cache5 takes advantage of this next generation technology to offer nearly double the storage capacity of existing LTO-4 cartridges – now 1.5 terabytes (TB)/LTO-5 cartridge. It also provides significantly faster archiving speeds and extends the economic advantages of data tape in terms of lower cost.

The Pro-Cache Platform

Based on the upgradeable and expandable Pro-Cache platform, both Pro-Cache5 and the LTO-4 based Pro-Cache4 enable creative professionals to create source masters in acquisition workflows when using the new memory card or disk-based cameras. The easiest to use network-attached archive appliances, they also provide long-term archival storage with easy access to content assets at every stage of production. Both Pro-Cache5 and Pro-Cache4 write data on low-cost, secure, portable, interchangeable and IT industry-standard LTO tape cartridges using the standard “tar format, and the archive life is 30 years.

Specifically designed to meet the archiving needs of post houses and field production, the enhanced Prime-Cache can be deployed into Windows, MacOS and Unix environments to provide high capacity (800GB/LTO-4 cartridge) and high speed (greater than 50MB/s) archiving. It enables direct access to archived data from any platform with simultaneous multi-user access and volume sharing.

In addition, the Pro-Cache platform can be upgraded to control robotic libraries. With a library upgrade, users can archive across multiple cartridges automatically and retrieve content over the network without manual intervention. With dozens of cartridges automatically accessible in the library, Pro-Cache can still manage more than 100TB of shelf-stored content.

In addition, to these new product developments, Cache-A’s products are now fully integrated with Square Box System’s CatDV asset manager, making it easy to manage and archive assets within a single workflow.

Cache-A has also increased its number of strategic partners over the past year, and many of its partners are demonstrating Pro-Cache platform products in acquisition, production and post-production workflows in their booths at NAB 2010. These companies include:
