Blink Digital Grows Creative Team, Expands Burbank Operations

), a provider of creative and production services for DVDs, Blu-ray discs and other forms of digital content, has expanded its senior creative team, bringing on Art Director Marta Ribeiro, Director of Blu-ray, Java and New Format Development Austen Teofan and Director of Project Management Liz Lodgen.

Ribeiro, who will head the studio's design team, arrives from IK Studios, Burbank, where she worked on Blu-ray releases for such films as Spiderwick Chronicles and Heroes Season 2. Teofan, whose focus will be the development of Blu-ray Java and BD-Live applications, previously served as Director of Menu Services at Sony Pictures Entertainment. Lodgen, who will oversee Blink's project managers, formerly served as Director of Operations of Disney's DVD Group. Additionally, Blink Digital has consolidated its West Coast operations, which includes its creative group in Santa Monica and its authoring facility in Burbank, to a single location in Burbank. With this consolidation, Blink Digital is aiming to achieve better integration between its creative and technical operations, and to broaden the scope of its services, both for DVD and Blu-ray titles and for other media such as interactive services. "Our goal is to be more efficient and to foster a higher level of innovation by having our designers and our programmers work in closer proximity," said Blink Digital Vice President and General Manager Steven Chester. "Close collaboration between our creative and technical operations will be increasingly important as we develop more cutting edge Blu-ray applications and venture further into other forms of interactive media." Ribeiro's tenure at 1K Studios spanned more than a decade. She served as the studio's senior art director for its Paramount Pictures account and also handled numerous assignments for HBO. She has won several awards for her work including, in 2006, a BDA World Gold for a DVD release of Sex and the City Bonus Disc and in 2007, a BDA North America Gold for the DVD release of Rome Season 1. Her background also includes design posts with Novocom, Mattel Interactive and Legacy Software. She received her training at Pontifícia Universidade Católica in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and UCLA. Teofan spent the past ten years at Sony Pictures Entertainment's Digital Authoring Center. He oversaw work on scores of DVD, UMD and Blu-ray titles, including Sony Pictures' first Blu-ray releases and ground-breaking BD-Live discs. Among his many credits are the Spider Man discs, Cars, Men in Black, Lost, Enchanted and Hellraiser, as well as music titles for such artists as John Mayer and AC/DC. Teofan, who has an MFA in Film and Video Production from the University of Southern California and a BA from Columbia University, began his career with Universal Studios. Lodgen joined Disney in 1996 and initially worked in marketing. She moved to the studio's DVD Group in 2000, managing such releases as Beauty and the Beasty, Lilo and Stitch and The Lion King, and became its Director of Operations in 2005. In that role, she acted as a liaison between six DVD production teams, theatrical post-production, home entertainment marketing and several other support groups. A graduate of Mount St. Mary's College in Los Angeles, she began her career with JobTrak Corp. and later served as Administrative Director for Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times, a year-round camp for children with cancer & their families.
