× to Launch the Only One-Stop News and Production Resource Guide for New York’s Independent Film & Arts Community

NEW YORK, NEW YORK, April 7, 2010 – Actress and sketch-comedienne Dani Faith Leonard and filmmaker Alex Cirillo have teamed up to create the only one-stop blogazine that offers a fresh and unique perspective about the independent film and arts community in New York City, called

. These two twenty-something, hard-working women in film have created clever, humorous and honest content for the site, which launches on May 1. Leonard and Cirillo will run the site as Creative Directors, and journalist Francesca Ferrara will join them as Managing Director of Content.

“I’m often asked by filmmakers attending our screening series, Industry Power Play, where they can go to find all the most important production resources in one place,� Leonard said. “ was a natural response to that plea, and we’re thrilled to be launching it to the community. It is our goal to encourage people to make films in New York.�

In 2008, Leonard created Industry Power Play, a media venture that produces a series of monthly film screenings and networking events for the independent film and performing arts community of New York City. Industry Power Play provides a comfortable environment in which artists can bring their skills and gifts to the attention of other professionals in their field, sparking collaborations and inspiring like-minded artists to produce great work.

“We chose the title because we realize the financial challenges filmmakers face in this competitive industry and in our current economy,� Cirillo said. “ will help guide filmmakers through this process so they can fulfill their visions.�

The site will offer a complete, ever-expanding resource guide including a directory of local vendors, union guidelines, guidelines for shooting in New York City, sample production forms, festival deadlines, and job listings. will also comprise of industry and film festival news, as well as feature stories written by professionals on topics of interest to readers. Such topics include producing, directing, screenwriting, distribution, casting, acting, entertainment law, business and more.

In addition, will profile film events, companies, and people working in the industry, provide film reviews written by people who actually make films, and a section where filmmakers can register their films and create a “project profile.� The site’s resident writers will keep witty and unique blogs. There will be competitions for “film of the week,� featured videos and resident web series. Readers will have the opportunity to interact by commenting on articles and submitting their own content.

Dani Faith Leonard is an actress and comedy writer based in New York City. She is a founding member of Broads & Wenches (, the sexy girl group of NYC sketch comedy, and she also writes and performs with the sketch comedy troupe, Really Sketchy ( In 2008, Leonard launched Industry Power Play, which she has since then collaborated on with Cirillo, and the two are now launching together. Since graduating from Loyola College in Maryland, Cirillo has balanced making her own short films and working as the office manager at Washington Square Arts and Films. She also recently worked as the assistant to the director and producers on Clive Barker’s DREAD.

Francesca Ferrara was awarded the Excellence in Journalism prize in 2009 from her alma matter, Adelphi University, where she served as features editor for the University’s newspaper, The Delphian. During her internship with CBS News, Ferrara was awarded first place for producing and creating news segments in an intern competition two years in a row. She currently works at Redscout, a brand innovation firm in New York City.
