Grass Valley, CA--(July 25th, 2006)-- AJA Video, a leading manufacturer of professional video interface and conversion solutions, will be showcasing the latest versions of its KONA (Mac) and XENA (Windows) video playback and capture cards at SIGGRAPH 2006. The KONA 3 v2 and XENA 2K feature advanced support and plug-ins for seamless integration with leading graphics and effects applications, such as Apple Shake and Motion, Autodesk Combustion®, Eyeon Fusion®, Adobe After Effects® and Adobe Photoshop®. AJA Video will be demonstrating these technologies from Booth 1031 at this year‘s SIGGRAPH Conference, to be held in Boston, MA from August 1 -3, 2006.
“The AJA XENA line has cut the cost of professionally HD-equipping a PC by 90%,” said Peter Hjorth, Founder, Gearless Visual Effects. “The traditional solution has been to group a cluster of VFX workstations around a single HD-equipped disk recorder or HD on-line system. The cost-effectiveness of the AJA XENA card allows us to give each workstation HD and 4:4:4 I/O thus making the production pipeline enormously more flexible. Also, the AJA XENA card provides direct output from our compositing application, so we no longer have to wait for our previews to render.” Gearless is based in Copenhagen, Denmark and has completed effects for films such as Lars von Trier‘s “Dogville,” and “Manderlay”.
“Many video editors and artists use animation, compositing and graphics applications alongside editorial tools such as Final Cut Pro and Premiere Pro--and it is with those artists in mind that we developed custom plug-ins for graphics programs into our video cards,” said Nick Rashby, Director of Sales and Marketing, AJA Video Systems. “ Our XENA cards in particular offer the broadcast spectrum of file format support along with the unique ability to capture, review, preview and playback SD, HD and 2K directly within Adobe After Effects--these features alone provide huge productivity boosts to digital artists.”
AJA Video will be demonstrating the Windows XP-based XENA 2K with its v2 software upgrade, which is also available for the XENA LS and LH line of video playback and capture cards. XENA video and audio I/O cards offer unmatched support within Adobe After Effects and Adobe Photoshop, with capture and playback directly within the application, as well as custom plug-ins for Eyeon Fusion 5® and Autodesk Combustion 4®. And because all XENA products come packaged with AJA‘s Machina ™ software, allowing users to bring video and audio into 3D, audio, and even CAD programs, the XENA 2K is an even more powerful application for filmmakers and VFX artists in need of an elegant software interface for deck-control, playback and recording.
Also showcased at AJA‘s SIGGRAPH booth will be 2K resolution format support with the v2 upgrade to the Mac OSX-based KONA 3. KONA 3 v2, the company‘s top-of-the-line HD/SD video capture card, is the ultimate uncompressed capture card for SD, HD and Dual Link 4:4:4:4 HD for PCI Express (PCIe) Apple G5 Power Macs and Apple Final Cut Studio. KONA 3 supports powerful real-time interaction with graphics and animation packages such as Apple Shake, Motion, and Adobe After Effects. KONA 3 v2 offers unique hardware-based 1080-to-720 or 720-to-1080 cross conversion, as well as up- and down-conversion. These desirable features further streamline dailies and deliverables creation at true broadcast picture quality in real time, making the KONA 3 v2 perfectly suited to the deadline-driven visual effects and broadcast design industries.
