Sigma fp Billed as Smallest Full-Frame Mirrorless Digital Camera

“Pocketable” camera features a 35mm full-frame Bayer sensor.

“The world’s smallest and lightest full-frame mirrorless digital camera” is how Sigma is touting its latest product, Sigma fp. The compact digital camera—weighing in at less than a pound and measuring 4.4×2.75×1.8-inches—has a 35mm full-frame Bayer sensor with 24.6 effective megapixels and can mix and match a variety of lenses and accessories.

The camera is capable of booth still and cine style shooting, and uses the L-Mount, which is characterized by a short flange focal length, large diameter and durability. Available lenses for the camera include Sigma models and lenses that are part of the L-Mount Alliance, including Leica and Panasonic.

Recording with the Sigma fp supports 12-bit CinemaDNG external recording and 4K UHD/24fps recording. It also supports ALL-I recording for H.264 compressed videos. USB3.1 (GEN1) is used to output video to an external recording unit. There is also an Auto HDR feature.

Additional features include a number of different color modes, including Teal & Orange, with each mode using a slider to adjust the strength of the effects applied, as well as quick access Tone and Color buttons.

Sigma plans to release the camera in the fall, but no word as of yet on price.
