Las Vegas, NV, NAB 08, Booth SU8514 - Davis & Sanford Tripods, a division of The Tiffen Company, introduces its new “Deluxe Steady Stick and ProVista Grounder to its current line of camera support products. The Steady Stick allows camera operators in the field to have more control of their camera with much less physical effort. The Steady Stick distributes the camera’s weight more evenly and makes it more easily maneuverable, thereby minimizing arm and back fatigue, especially during long shoots. The ProVista Grounder Tripod with FM18 Fluid Head are ideally suited to handle today’s new Mini DVs and large camcorders. The Pro Steady Stick can support professional cameras weighing up to 30 pounds and is geared toward pro camcorders that require a tripod adapter plate. The Compact Steady Stick can be used with all cameras with a ¼-20 tripod socket. The new Steady Stick Deluxe can be used with all cameras with a ¼-20 tripod socket. It utilizes our new shock absorber system to make smoother shots possible. All Steady Sticks now have an improved padded holster design that allows it to swivel, making it easier for crisp, precise camera movements. A new 2-inch nylon belt is also included with all Steady Stick models. A removable padded metal handle system that connects to either side or bottom of the Steady Stick for increased camera maneuverability is now standard with all models. The handle on the compact version can be used as a shoulder rest. The handle on the Deluxe Steady Stick has a contoured design making it easier to support your camera. All models have a telescoping support arm and camera platform that transfers the camera’s weight from the operator’s shoulders and arms to the torso. The camera can still be moved in any direction and to any position or angle. The operator can pan low or hold the camera high over a crowd. Better control with less effort leads to smoother, steadier shots. Steady Stick attaches securely to a belt holster and easily adjusts to the height of the camera operator. A 3 x 4 platform holds the camera and allows 360º rotation. The instant-release coupling allows the camera to be quickly and easily disconnected from the platform and attached to a separate tripod. All Steady Stick models weigh under 2 pounds and are sturdy enough to hold cameras weighing up to 30 pounds. The ProVista Grounder and head is designed for videographers who need a heavy-duty tripod for a variety of field, studio, educational, and industrial applications. Yet, it is small enough to be airline carry-on compatible. It supports cameras weighing up to 18 pounds. ProVista Grounder is a three-section aluminum tripod with a non-glare black anodized finish. Quick release leg locks are easy to use even in cold weather. For fast setup, the locks flip open and close. The 32mm legs are heavy duty enough to stabilize 18 pounds yet compact enough to carry anywhere. The legs lock in 3 separate spreading positions to enable the shooter to shoot close to the ground or at 54 inches maximum height. A 75 millimeter claw ball adds mobility and stability. The 3/8-16 mounting screw will accept most professional tripod heads. The rubber feet provide traction on any surface, indoors and out. Maximum height for ProVista is 54, minimum height is 11.5. Tripod weight with head is 8 pounds. Matched up perfectly to the ProVista Grounder tripod is the FM18 Fluid Head that can hold up to 18 pounds. It is designed for heavy-duty use with Mini DVs and large camcorders. It offers fluid-smooth 360º panning and 90º up-and-down tilting. Separate, easy-grip knobs lock and unlock the panning and tilting mechanism. The large platform measures 3 ¾ by 3. The quick release plate features a 3/8-16 and ¼-20 mounting screws to attach most any camera to the platform easily. Two handles are provided that can be used together or separately in multiple positions. The FM18 weighs 3 ¾ pounds. A durable, padded carrying bag is included in the Provista Grounder tripod and head kit. Davis & Sanford has been providing a variety of tripods and support systems to the motion picture and broadcast industries for over 70 years.
