Austin, Texas—January 16, 2008— BOXX Technologies Inc., an innovator in high-performance computing systems for visual effects (VFX) professionals, today announced that the company’s 3DBOXX 8400se has been ranked the fastest workstation for floating point performance, by the Standard Performance Evaluation (SPEC) Corporation using SPEC CPU2006, which is the standard recognized worldwide for measuring computing performance. The 3DBOXX 8400se, which runs with 3.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel® Xeon® processors, scored 78.8 baseline score on the SPECfp_rate_base2006 benchmark and a 88.7 at Peak performance for SPECfp_rate2006. Both benchmarks measure floating point performance which has the most direct impact on workstation performance for digital artists who render images. SPEC evaluates computer performance across a wide range of hardware systems, using the nonprofit group’s software SPEC CPU2006. SPEC CPU2006 includes two benchmark suites: CINT2006 for measuring compute-intensive integer performance, and CFP2006 for compute-intensive floating point performance. Performance metrics within SPEC CPU2006 measure system speed and throughput.
