Music Industry Veteran Builds Affordable LI Soundstage, Recording Studio
IndiMusic Studios, Affiliated with Music Video Service for Unsigned Musicians

Ronkonkoma, NY – IndiMusic Studios, comprised of a fully equipped soundstage and recording studio (http://www.indimusicstudios.com/) here, recently celebrated it first anniversary as a world-class video production at affordable prices, in a convenient and comfortable environment.

The facility is a sister company of IndiMusic TV, which streams 24/7 on the web at https://indimusic.tv and Roku unsigned/independent musicians’ videos that will also available on demand starting in September 2015 on Comcast, FiOS, DISH, and Amazon Fire.

Both synergistic businesses are the brainchild of music industry Chris Pati, whose credits include directing and producing many music videos, national TV commercials, as well as working on feature films and documentaries.

Located in central Long Island only minutes from and MacArthur Airport and the railroad station, IndiMusic Studios is perfectly positioned to offer the best competitively recording, mixing, and production experience in the tri-state.

The soundstage’s rental fee is relatively inexpensive ($750 per 10-hour day). Crew and equipment available upon advanced reservation and additional fee. The studio offers three Sony F7 XDCAM 4k Super 35mm Cameras, stage risers and lighting grids.

In July 2014, IndiMusic Studios moved into its new 4,500 square-foot facility, of which 2,000 sq. ft. is devoted to a soundstage. The building was ideally suited for what Pati envisioned.

Pati had been operating the aforementioned IndiMusic TV from his home, which included a green screen, while running for three seasons on WLNY-TV, a CBS affiliate.  He wanted better production values for its VJ cut-ins, which have been done by former VH1 host Lynn Hoffman, who hosts IndiMusic TV’s Top 21 program and performs weekly voiceovers. Joining Hoffman as a “Face of IndiMusic TV” is former Fuse VJ Juliya Chernetsky.

“We needed overhead room, and I wanted a soundstage that when we weren’t using, like the recording studio, could be rent out to other people,” explains Pati. Among the shows using the soundstage is talk show Live It Up!, which is broadcast by CBS affiliate WLNY-TV, as well as IndiMusic TV.

Pati’s 30-year music industry background includes recording, producing and arranging numerous charting records for such artists as Sheena Easton, Michael Damian and The Isley Bros, as well as performing with and alongside the likes of Peter Noone of Herman’s Hermits, Josh Groban, Smokey Robinson, Bon Jovi and Peter Frampton.

“We are equipped with every tool necessary to make a high quality product from the recording stage right up to the final mixdown,” Pati says, noting that musicians these days are usually equipped to record at home with a laptop, Pro Tools or some kind of digital audio workstation. He asks rhetorically, “Why in the world would anyone start a recording studio in 2015?”

Pati believes musicians recording at home often find the results lacking in drums and a quality piano, which is why a centerpiece of the studio is a Kimball Viennese Classic Baby Grand. “Anyone in the piano world will tell you it’s a rare gem,” says Pati, who bought the barely played piano on eBay for a steal. Its full array of equipment, including instruments, is available at http://www.indimusicstudios.com/#!equipment/cjg9

“I also put money into an excellent [Tascam DM-4800] console and microphones (AKGs, Sennheisers and Shures, among them),” he adds. The recording studio marks the fourth he’s built since 1980 starting with Backdoor Recording in Huntington, NY when he was still a teenager.

At 5 years old, Pati began playing piano, guitar, bass and drums, established himself as a multi-instrumental prodigy by age 8. He was playing professionally by the age of 13 and subbed for famed session drummer Steve Gadd at age 16 back in 1978.  Pati worked on many major label projects over the years with the highlight being a Rebbie Jackson (Michael Jackson’s sister) album entitled R U Tuff Enuff (Columbia), from which a single hit No. 8 on the Billboard chart in 1988.

Pati later recorded his own Top 15 Billboard Charting blues albums through his own label Modern Voices, which was also the same name of his home studio since 1990, Modern Voices Recording (http://www.modernvoicesrecording.com/index.htm), which he rented out to other musicians and maintains fully equipped even with the new studio.
