BURBANK—Advantage Video Systems has signed a reseller agreement with Market Technology to bring its mobile post-production and editing system 4Kase to Latin America. Market Technology will resell the system to broadcasters, film and television producers and others through its network of more than two dozen sales agents in countries from Mexico to Brazil.
Introduced at NAB 2014, 4Kase is a fully-integrated, on-set workflow system that is small enough to fit in the trunk of a car. Based on a high-performance Mac Pro workstation, 4Kase offers the ability to input and output 4K data from most popular digital cinema cameras and perform such tasks as dailies processing, media back-up, color management and editing.
Market Technology president Norma Zeledon says that 4Kase includes a feature set with great appeal to producers in Latin America. “It’s portable, well-priced and more powerful than other on-set systems,” Zeledon says. He adds that he expects the system to appeal to the region’s rapidly expanding film industry and to the growing number of U.S. film and television productions working in Latin America.
Advantage Video Systems principle Jeffrey Stansfield calls Market Technology the ideal partner to introduce 4Kase to Latin America, citing the company’s broad network and success in gaining traction for such brands at Tiger Technology, Accusys ExaSAN , Cubix, Tolis Group and VICOM Solutions. “Norman Zeledon has been bringing new technology to Latin America for more than 20 years,” Stansfield says. “His company sets the standard for professionalism and integrity.”
4Kase includes a 2014 Apple Mac Pro workstation capable of running most current software for dailies processing, color management, media back-up and editorial. It supports the latest cameras made by Sony, Arri, RED, Canon and Black Magic Design. Key features include a built-in high resolution monitor, up to 16 TB of onboard storage, two LTO-6 drives, SAS Enterprise RAID-5, a multi-card reader, Thunderbolt expansion slots, and cooling and power management tools. All of that is custom fitted into a rugged transport case designed to stand-up to the rigors of location production, and yet small and light enough to be checked as airline luggage.
Advantage Video Systems’ development partners include Apple, HP, Magma, RED, Tolis Group, Pelican Cases, Axel Video, Adobe and Black Magic Design. The system has undergone extensive beta-testing with a variety of camera systems and under a range of operating conditions.
