Les Cinémas RGFM (RGFM), a leading Quebec independent movie chain, is now 100 percent digital at its 23 first-run screens, following the installation of Christie® digital projectors. The conversion from film to digital formats support RGFM’s quest to be a leader in technical innovation to deliver the best cinema experience to its guests. The chain is using Christie CP2000, Christie CP2210 and Christie CP2220 projectors, which were installed over the past two years with no disruption to operations. A family business spanning three generations, RGFM was founded in 1972 by Marcel Venne, president and Réjane Angers, vice president, in Joliette. It has since grown to serve three regions with full-service, first-run cinemas as well as some drive-in and revival locations. Sons Frédéric and Guillaume grew up in the business and are now partners and associates. “We have always focused on friendly service and professional presentation,” says Marcel Venne. “Christie’s digital projectors and expertise in installation and support are helping us continue to give our customers the best experience available.” Dave Muscat, senior director of sales, Christie Canada, said, “Christie is pleased to have been entrusted with a key part of RGFM’s ongoing efforts to be at the top of their game in their market. Our track record for delivering state-of-the-art equipment, backed by unmatched customer service and maintenance, has gained Christie more than 90 percent of Canada’s digital cinema exhibition market, with RGFM being the latest addition.” Digital Conversion Yields Many Benefits Upgrading from 35 mm film to digital projectors yields many benefits, including: - Scratches, fading and ‘jutter’ of film from repeat showings are a thing of the past, with the consistent picture brightness, razor-sharp image quality and vibrant colors of digital cinema projection. - Every presentation looks as if it is being presented for the first time on screen. The digital copy at the 100th viewing is as good as the movie’s premiere with perfect reproduction, time and time again. - Digital cinema facilitates advanced presentation options and allows flexibility that 35 mm film can’t provide, including the insertion of alternative content and ads, making it possible for theaters to expand their revenue streams. - 3D movie presentations, events such as sports broadcasts and other presentations all look better when presented by a digital projector. With over 20,000 digital cinema projectors installed worldwide, Christie’s digital solutions have been tested and proven with the most installations worldwide, deployed by a network of installation and support partners. As one of the longest-established providers of cinema projectors, Christie brings an unmatched understanding of the business to its global customer base. By providing total theater solutions designed to increase opportunities and support business, now and in the future – whether digital cinema projection or new sources of revenue such as on-screen advertising and in-lobby displays and alternative content – Christie continues to provide products that increase the value of our customers’ businesses.
