Bergen, Norway, Vizrt Ltd. (Oslo Main List: VIZ) Vizrt Ltd., a leading provider of content production tools for the digital media industry, today announced an agreement with Informa plc, a UK based publishing company with over 2,500 subscription-based information services in their portfolio, including academic journals, real-time news and structured databases of commercial intelligence. Informa plc will use Vizrt’s new Viz App Framework to publish its leading magazines to portable devices such as iPads and Android smart phones. Vizrt creates tools for digital media publishing, allowing media houses to publish to multiple platforms using one dedicated content management system. The Viz App Framework is the latest addition to Vizrt’s online and mobile portfolio. It integrates seamlessly with existing Vizrt content management system installations, with Escenic Content Engine as the core application, and allows customers to build native iOS and Android apps that provide a native visual experience for all the latest mobile devices. Informa plc is the first customer to deploy the Viz App Framework on a large scale. The publisher will use the software to port its flagship publication, Lloyd’s List, to the iPad and iPhone. Informa plc is already using Escenic Content Engine as its main content management system (CMS) and will now take full advantage of Viz App Framework’s integration features. “Vizrt’s online and mobile platform, with Escenic Content Engine as the core, is a very important content delivery solution for Informa Business Information and the Lloyd’s List Group. The Vizrt online and mobile platform help us deliver must-have online and mobile content to our target markets like Pharma, Maritime, Legal and Bio Sciences, says Charles Thiede, CTO at IBI. “We are delighted to work closely with Vizrt to deliver to our ever growing mobile customerbase what we hope will be a best-in-class tablet and smart phone device. The first application will be for the historic Lloyd’s List, which was established in 1734 and is one of the oldest newspapers in the world. “We are happy to announce the Vizrt App Framework at a time when our customers wish to implement an app strategy that integrates with their existing editorial and publishing workflows. This new product gives new and existing customers an affordable and highly scalable solution using Vizrt’s CMS and our video and graphics technologies. We’re thrilled that a highly regarded global publisher such as Informa decided to include us in its ambitious app strategy, says Håvard Myklebust, Executive VP Marketing, Vizrt.
