Jessica Hawthorne-Castro, CEO, Hawthorne Direct, made the announcement. Based in Los Angeles, Werderman will report to Mary Papp, Hawthorne's Vice President of Media/Account Management.

Prior to joining Hawthorne Direct, Kurt Werderman was a Strategic Planner with Havas Edge, Hollywood, CA, since 2012. In that position, he helped build that agency's strategic planning department from the ground up. He initiated and executed primary and secondary research and strategic planning projects, including creative briefs, competitor assessments, customer segmentation and targeting, product positioning, key messaging and offer builds for existing clients and new business pitches. 

Among the clients with whom Werderman worked during his tenure with Havas were Lifelock Identity Theft Protection, ICON Health and Fitness, Cancer Treatment Centers of America, Bosley Hair Replacement, LINE Instant Messaging App, Humane Society of the United States, Belviq Weight Management, St. Jude Children's Hospital, USO, John Frieda Hair Care, and The Hartford Life and Auto Insurance.

Earlier, Werderman was a Website Copywriter with LinkNetMedia U.S. and Integrated Media Solutions (MDC Partners) in Beverly Hills. As a Media Data Analyst with Integrated Media Solutions (MDC Partners) from 2005 to 2011, Werderman was involved with quantitative and qualitative media performance analytics for direct response and brand advertising clients. Among these clients were Westwood Colleges, Cancer Treatment Centers of America, Liberty Medical, Childfund International, Hair Club and Tempur-Pedic. 

From 2004-05, Werderman was a Project Manager/Print Services with BBDO Worldwide (Omnicom) in New York. There he managed production and placement of print advertising for such major brand clients as Campbell Soup, DirecTV, Gillette, Bayer, and Visa. Earlier positions held by Werderman include those with Goldman, Sachs & Co., New York, in Global Technology Procurement as a Decision Data Contractor; Fremont General Corp., Santa Monica, as a Corporate Communications Project Manager; Evans Group Advertising, Los Angeles, as an Account Executive; McCann-Erickson Worldwide (Interpublic) Los Angeles, as a Traffic/Production Manager, and DDB Needham Worldwide (Omnicom) Los Angeles, as a Media Billing Supervisor. 

Werderman holds a Masters of Business Administration (Marketing Management) Degree from the University of California Irvine, and a Bachelors of Fine Arts (Music History, Theory, Composition) Degree from University of California Los Angeles.
