Guerilla FX’s Thor Raxlen to Participate in Sports Video Group D-SPORTS 2007 Conference

(GFX), the New York-based independent design, effects and post finishing company, will participate in the Sports Video Group (SVG) produced D-Sports 2007 Conference, part of the New York Post-Production Conference, at AMC 34th Street in Manhattan, Wednesday, October 24th , 10:15 -11:15 A.M.

The broadband sports landscape is exploding with new technologies and companies that provide sports content owners with more and more ways to reach sports fans — anywhere and anytime. The D-Sports 2007 Conference is geared toward sports technology professionals involved with production and distribution of sports content via broadband, cell phones and digital cinema and will cover content acquisition, management and monetization issues across three screens – broadcast, broadband, and mobile.

Thor Raxlen will participate on the “Need For Speed: Editing For Broadband And Mobile Video Distribution” panel. Sports Web sites increasingly find them selves challenged to deliver video and audio content more quickly and more efficiently. What tools and techniques can help speed up the editing and post-production process? How does one publish content for the wide variety of streaming formats and consumer devices?

For the Nike ZOOM campaign, “Quick is Deadly,” developed by Wieden & Kennedy, Thor Raxlen and GFX filmed 10 of the world‘s fastest athletes and completed the editing and effects for an unfathomable 400 to 500, :24 to :60 webisodes, which began begin airing on Nike.com, in August. The GFX production team hop-scotched the world, traveling to Waco, TX; Madrid and Barcelona Spain; San Diego, CA; Portland, OR; Vancouver, BC; and Chicago, IL to shoot: Olympic Gold Medallist Sanya Richards; British sprinter Jason Gardner; the world‘s fastest man, Jamaican sprinter, Asafa Powell; Brazilian footballer Robinho (Robson de Souza), who plays for Real Madrid and The Brazilian National Team; San Diego Chargers All-Pro running back Ladainian Tomlinson; Phoenix Suns NBA point guard Steve Nash; Majorcan tennis sensation Raphael Nadal; Chicago Bulls NBA small forward Luol Deng; Middle distance runner Lauren Fleshman; and Middle distance runner, Adam Goucher.

Earlier this year, for adidas and Foot Locker, Raxlen and Guerilla FX, through time-lapse photography, shot the creative efforts of renowned graffiti artist Rime (AKA Jersey Joe). His mural for the “End-to-End” collection takes the artist‘s work literally from the street to your feet. The one-minute web spot was attached to a mix of urban culture, community and sneaker-head sites. In addition, a 1:00 spot was projected from vans onto building facades throughout New York and Los Angeles, to garner further attention for the new line of sneakers.
