AKG Acoustics‘ Perception 100 and 200 microphones have quickly built a strong following among musicians and engineers, proving to be among the best high-value condenser microphones on the market today. Building on this reputation, AKG has now introduced the Perception 400 - a multi-pattern, large-diaphragm condenser microphone ideal for musicians and audio engineers for both studio and live sound applications.

The new Perception 400 encompasses selectable cardioid, omni and figure-eight pickup patterns with switchable 10dB pad, switchable bass cut filter, shock mount and metal case. The Perception 400 features two separate one-inch diameter vibrating surface capsules with gold-sputtered foil diaphragms. The technologically-advanced, externally-biased “true” condenser capsules deliver impressive performance consistency, especially in high temperature and humidity conditions. The Perception 400 features a full 20 - 20,000 Hz response and high 145 dB max SPL capability at less than 0.5% THD.

“Perception 400‘s genuine large-diaphragm capsules deliver a classic warm, yet present sound that has been the performance hallmark of AKG studio microphones for nearly 60 years,” said Mike Torlone, Market Development Manager for AKG Acoustics U.S.

“With the addition of the Perception 400, we now have a ‘good, better and best‘ option within the high-value Perception product line. Each microphone in the Perception line provides unique performance and addresses a segment of the market not previously targeted by AKG.”

The Perception 400 boasts a durable, modern precision-tooled zinc/aluminum alloy metal chassis with a stainless steel, dent-resistant grille screen to protect the capsules.

Like the Perception 200, the Perception 400 comes in a metal-framed “sound tools” carrying case with a screw-on, spider-type shock mount. Every Perception microphone is backed by a two-year parts and labor warranty from AKG.
