In the below video, B&H's Steve Gladstone and Panasonic's Matt Frazer introduce the Panasonic HC-X1000 4K camcorder.

As Frazer says, "I think it's important to understand that clearly there's not a wealth of 4K televisions out there. There might not even be a wealth of jobs available yet for 4K. So we wanted this to be as high a quality 1080 cameras as you can have. So clearly you can record 4K to the SD card if you like, but if you want to just record 1080, the nice thing here is that this camera is still capturing 4K all the time."
