‘Swiss Army Man’ Co-Director on How They Made Daniel Radcliffe Into a Jet-Ski Powered Corpse

In case you don’t know it by name, Swiss Army Man is that movie in which Daniel Radcliffe plays a farting corpse that Paul Dano rides across the ocean. The quirky Sundance favorite is the directorial debut of The Daniels, and in an essay on MovieMaker Magazine, co-director Daniel Scheinert explains how they pulled off that pivotal scene.

“You gotta come up with an image you really want to see on screen, not one you necessarily know how to get up there,” he writes. “We told our financiers we knew exactly how to pull off an effect like this… but we didn’t, really. So we did our research (among other things, we rewatched that David Hasselhoff scene from The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie.) And then we started spit-balling with our team.”
