‘Queen of the South’ Strives for Each Episode to Look Like a Short Film

USA Network’s Queen of the South tells the story of a woman (Alice Braga) forced to take the reins of a Mexican drug cartel.

“I grew up in New York in the 70s, and we talked a lot about movies like The French ConnectionThe Conversation and Serpico in that wonderful era of classic filmmaking. Our goal was to have each episode look like a short film,” executive producer David T. Friendly tells ProMaxBDA Brief. “Scarface is something we talked about at length. We were going for a gritty reality.”
