British supermarket chain Sainsbury's has released a three-minute Christmas spot that looks and feels more like a short war film. The heartwarming film depicts true events that took place 100 years ago--when British and German soldiers called a Christmas truce during the first year of World War I. Ringan Ledwidge directed the spot and historians were brought in to ensure as much accuracy as possible.

The chocolate bar that features prominently in the story will be sold at Sainsbury's this season and all proceeds will benefit veteran association the Royal British Legion.

Watch the spot and a making-of below.
