This Week’s ‘New Yorker’ Cover Is the Most Animated Yet

The New Yorker has put a new twist on its latest cover, providing a video animation that goes along with it. Created by Chris Ware and John Kuramoto, the video animates a real audio story from Ira Glass and writer Hanna Rosin.

As Ware explains, “Usually, when listening to a story, one’s mind not only sees but also feels in images; you imagine and constantly revise and update entire tableaux, much the way you imagine things while reading a book. I hoped that our pictures wouldn’t interfere with that ineffable mental dance but would somehow, like my usual medium of graphic novels, complement it.”
