Video Artist Anri Sala’s New Exhibit Focuses on Music Engaged with Architecture

Video artist Anri Sala focuses on the importance of sound with his new show at the New Museum, Anri Sala: Answer Me. Specifically, the work focus on music, including a piece called Ravel Ravel Unravel, which features two pianists playing the same piece of music on a single screen.

“We designed a semi-anechoic chamber for [Ravel Ravel] comprised of 1600 individual pieces of melamine foam that are suspended on cables lining the gallery walls,” curator Margot Norton tells The Creators Project, allowing the two pieces to produce “an echo effect in a space where actual echoes are virtually impossible.”
