Synesthesia and Literal Music Videos Inspire Latest from Steady Sun

Inspired by frontman Dylan Nowik’s synesthesia — a condition in which the body’s senses have crossed wires (hearing in color, for example) —the music video for Steady Sun’s “Irises” is a trippy, literal interpretation of the song’s lyrics.

The video was co-directed by Sandy Honig and Matt Westrich. Westrich explains to The Creators Project that they took Honig’s signature cutout style to a new level by deciding “that if we separate[d] the cutouts from the backgrounds into individual layers, it [would] allow for a wider range of variables to play with in post.”
