Startup AirMap Sends Drone Location Information to Airports

Startup Airmap has partnered with the American Association of Airport Executives, which represents 850 major airports across the U.S., to allow location data from three of the most popular brands of drones (DJI, 3D-Robotics, Yuneec) to automatically be accessible by air traffic controllers.

“We think that, through the manufacturers, we are reaching approximately 80 percent of the world’s drones, helping millions of people,” Ben Marcus, co-founder and CEO of Airmap, tells The Verge. “We also have an app of our own coming out, so that people who own a drone outside the big three manufacturers can also use our service.”
