AMC’s new artificial intelligence drama Humans has started its promo campaign with a fake-out spot for the Persona Synthetics robots at the heart of the show. The spot premiered before Sunday night’s premiere of Halt and Catch Fire and, aside from a #Humans hashtag at the end, gives no indication that it’s anything other than a regular commercial.
AMC’s EVP of marketing Linda Schupack tells Advertising Age that the spot is “a fun little tease that’s set in a parallel present, where there’s a market for selling robots as consumer products.”
