The latest James Bond film Spectre opens with a seemingly continous four-minute take that starts off by showing a Day of the Dead parade in Mexico City and eventually honing in on a villain and the superspy–naturally–chasing him down.
Cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema talks to The Hollywood Reporter about how they made the sequence happen. “The conventional master shots start big and go in and get more intimate,” he says. “But we felt it would be so nice to turn it around and suddenly sweep outside, giving it even a bigger scope. That was, of course, very difficult.”
