Roundtable Discussions: The Cinematographers for Some the Year’s Best Films

The Hollywood Reporter has released its annual roundtable with some of the year’s best cinematographers, this year speaking with Rodrigo Prieto (Passengers; Silence), Bradford Young (Arrival), Charlotte Bruus Christensen (Girl on the Train; Fences), Linus Sandgren (La La Land), Caleb Deschanel (Rules Don’t Apply), and John Toll (Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk).

Says Prieto, “[Cinematography is] not just making beautiful pictures. People think it’s good cinematography because it’s beautiful. And it’s not that. We’re really trying to express the emotion of the story.”
