Filmmaking team Directors Duo, a.k.a. Christopher Schlierf and Benjamin Kratzin, were given a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K to test out and opted to use it to create a fake trailer for a non-existent sci-fi movie they call Generation Zero.
“Our aim was to see how cinematic we could go with such a small camera,” the directors explain in the description of the trailer’s YouTube video. Because of its dynamic range and the low light capabilities, you can just use available light and a couple of small external light sources, which really opens things up for all those creative people wanting to do a film.
“We thought it would be interesting to test the camera’s low light capabilities while simultaneously trying to do something more filmic, genre driven, such as a trailer for a fake movie,” they continue. “We are completely in love with the sci-fi genre and inventing these altered worlds but we know it can be quite tricky. Especially as we knew that, we had to shoot everything in only a week with nothing more than the things around us. But we were happy to accept the challenge of doing a genre piece on a DIY level. Just like back in our student days.”
