K-Tek Interview Boom Pole Supports Social Distancing

The two-section pole, which can double as an extended handgrip, collapses down to 3 feet 2 inches and weighs 10 ounces.

K-Tek has introduced its new Interview Boom Pole that extends 6 feet to provide recommended social distancing between an interviewer and the person being interviewed and allows the interviewer to stay out of frame when required.

The two-section pole, which can double as an extended handgrip, collapses down to 3 feet 2 inches and weighs 10 ounces.

“It’s a boom pole; let’s not get crazy, right?” writes Brian Hallet. “Wrong, this boom pole has become one of my favorite pieces of kit. As Marie Kondo would say, it brings me joy. I have used the purpose-built K-Tek Interview Pole as a polite way to situate interview subjects a safe distance away from a reporter and me. Then, there are the times I use the boom pole to force a subject farther away. The K-Tek Interview Pole is a great tool to remind people to keep the space between us a little more now than we may be used to usually.

“If I can anticipate an interview, I mount the K-Tek Interview Pole onto a C-Stand to set up a spot for an interview,” Hallet continues. “Pre-setting up an interview spot allows me to tell a subject, “please stand under the microphone,” as I press record farther away. It is another way to ensure we are all safe and remaining healthy.” To read the full review, click here.

The Interview Boom Pole is made of durable graphite and has a foam grip for comfort. It comes with a 3/8-inch threaded stud and 5/8-inch adapter insert.

Compatible with all professional shock mounts and mic clamps with 3/8- and 5/8-inch attachment for handheld mics, the Interview Boom Pole extends and retracts quickly.

The new Interview Boom Pole is priced at $129.95.
