Pinnacle Systems Graphic to Help Create Look of NBC Olympics in HD & SD

Pinnacle Systems

announced that NBC Olympics has expanded its Pinnacle-based broadcast graphics infrastructure for the Athens Olympics by purchasing seven additional Pinnacle Deko character generators and two additional Pinnacle Thunder servers. NBC Olympics has installed a total of 26 Deko systems for live and post production use at the Games. This is the fourth consecutive Olympic Games for which NBC has selected Pinnacle’s highly efficient networked workflow for live graphics to support the rigorous demands of broadcasting the world’s premier sports event. It also marks the first time NBC will air the Summer Olympics in high definition – a broadcast also supported by Pinnacle Deko graphics.

The Athens Olympics will be covered around the clock by NBC Universal networks, including NBC, MSNBC, CNBC, USA, Bravo, and broadcast in Spanish by Telemundo. The HD and SD broadcasts both access the same database of graphics images, making it easy for NBC Olympics to manage the dual format broadcast.
