Philadelphia Eagles Use LiveU MultiPoint to Share Live Content with Broadcasters

The Philadelphia Eagles organization has always pursued ways to bring fans closer to the team they love and support. As this philosophy pertains to video production, the team has invested in new technologies that offer a clear, competitive advantage in the content market. LiveU MultiPoint, a cloud-based IP live video distribution solution, is a key component in sharing and distributing this content. The Philadelphia Eagles uses LiveU MultiPoint for the enhanced distribution of internally produced content to its broadcast partners, including NBC 10 Philadelphia (WCAU) and other Philadelphia sports networks. Through the partnership, the organizations can maximize coverage and tell a compelling story without requiring broadcasters to send a dedicated crew to shoot the content, saving time and resources.

With a single camera covering a press conference, the Eagles can capture content and then distribute it using LiveU to both Eagles-owned media channels and those of NBC 10, “the official television station of the Philadelphia Eagles.” NBC 10 can simply send a journalist to obtain sound bites and then use the Eagles’ footage to complement their efforts. Content includes team press conferences, locker room interviews, and off-the-field team events and programs. The benefits have been mutual and the investment was modest.

“We recognized there was an opportunity to share resources by adopting LiveU’s MultiPoint service. MultiPoint enables both the Eagles and NBC 10 to focus on separate aspects of news coverage, and allows each party to benefit from the other party’s effort,” says Mark Leblang, studio/live production manager, Philadelphia Eagles.
