More Than 40 Filmmakers Working on Election Day Documentary ’11/8/16′

More than forty filmmakers are joining forces to film live footage today, Election Day, around the country for Jeff Deutchman’s documentary 11/8/16, his follow-up to his previous Election Day documentary 11/4/08.

Filmmakers including Alison Klayman (Ai Weiwei: Never Sorry), David Lowery (Pete’s Dragon), Jason Benjamin (Suited), Daniel Junge (Being Evel) and more are following the likes of Lena Dunham, NPR journalist Dave Davies, and Clinton director of video Sierra Kos as they go through the historic day.

In addition to the final documentary, a lot of the filmmakers are also currently live-streaming their raw footage on Periscope.

“It’s a counter-programming to what everyone is going to be very anxiously following Tuesday,” Deutchman told IndieWire. “People are going to be checking the news all day and checking their social feeds, and I really like this idea of providing a third stream of content that that is more human and gives people the opportunity to step into other people’s shoes.”
