Light Iron, a division of Panavision, has selected the JMR Lightning LTNG-XQ-8-DTMP rack-mount Mac Pro/Thunderbolt RAID system to be an integral part of its OUTPOST Mobile Processing Lab. OUTPOST is a customizable mobile solution for production and postproduction media management. As a mobile dailies system, Outpost allows users to set and save color looks, download media, back up in triplicate, perform checksum verifications, sync audio, and transcode faster than real time. Using Outpost during production means editorial deliverables, marketing deliverables and iPad/web deliverables can all be generated on the same day the footage is shot.
“The JMR Lightning Thunderbolt RAID docking system conveniently houses the cylindrical Mac Pro processor and an 8-bay disk RAID array, while creating easy access to Outpost’s many I/O ports, and boosting operating capacity with its RAID controller and dual bus PCIe expander. The JMR Lightning dock has a well-engineered architecture that complements the design of the Outpost by Panavision and helps to make Outpost the most powerful solution for on-set media management,” says Laura Pursley, director of marketing at Light Iron.
“Adding the JMR Lightning Thunderbolt RAID docking system to the Outpost by Panavision cart streamlines a complex configuration of hardware into a convenient single rack unit. It creates easy access for Outpost’s many I/O ports, and its dual bus PCIe expander and RAID controller boost operating capacity, making Outpost the most powerful solution for on-set media management,” adds Aaron Kroger, director of Outpost Systems, Light Iron.
