Julia Hart’s ‘Miss Stevens’ Is a Grown Up Coming-of-Age Story

Screenwriter Julia Hart makes her directorial debut with Miss Stevens, about a young English teacher who finds out she may have as much growing up to do as the three teen charges she takes on a road trip to a drama competition.

“In a lot of ways, the movie is about two things for me,” Hart told Los Angeles Times. “It’s about performance and the power of art to get you through the tough stuff, but it’s also about growing up and letting go.”
