‘The Internet Own’s Boy’ Director on the Most Poignant Lesson He Learned From His Documentary

In the below interview with Boing Boing’s Xeni Jardin, The Internet’s Own Boy director Brian Knappenberger talks about his Aaron Swartz documentary.

Says Knappenberger, “In making this film, one of the things that I thought was one of the most poignant kind of insights that Aaron had is the notion of access to information as a class issue, as a democracy issue…The thing that Aaron seemed to really understand about information is that when you give access to knowledge and science and research only to people with money, if you give the ability to participate in our government only to people with money, then what you’re doing is you’re basically cementing a stratified class structure.”
