Samsung 837, the electronic brand’s new flagship New York City “store,” doesn’t actually sell anything. Instead it’s a space dedicated to cutting-edge installations and novel ways for consumers to interact with the brand.
Case in point is Social Galaxy, an installation by Kenzo Digital’s Black Egg. After users pull up their Instagram account on a Samsung phone, they then enter a chamber where they are bombarded with their own images, captions, and hashtags.
“The idea is to come face to face with your digital self. It’s like a hyper-narcissism chamber,” Kenzo Digital tells W Magazine. “We’re using mega-stimulation to get at something really human. What does your broadcasted self say about who you are?”
