It’s hard to imagine that a music video that features underwater shots and slow-motion wouldn’t be a high-budget affair. But director Sven Dreesbach circumvented that by using some very affordable equipment without sacrificing the look of his project.
His video for Robert Koch and Delhia de France’s “Dark Waves” was shot entirely on an iPhone 6S, with the help of housing case Watershot for the underwater scenes and the Beastgrip system for the rest. Camera app Filmic Pro helped give him manual control over the exposure.
“Any professional camera system with the same features would have exceeded our budget and with this setup I was able to jump back in the water for some pickup shots any time, without having to worry about accessibility and such,” he tells Mashable.
