IMAGICA Develops Real-Time HD Film Recorder

IMAGICA Corp., Tokyo, Japan today introduced a real time HD film recorder for use by its scanning recording/service divisions in Japan. The IMAGICA HD film recorder uses the JVC 2K D-ILA reflective liquid crystal device and standard pin registration intermittent film camera. The HD film recorder will record images that were shot with a 1080 24p cinema camera to 35mm negative film in real time. By format converting, the film recorder can support 1080 60i SD/NTSC and Slow PAL (25p) as well.



recorder was developed in response to the stated need of Japanese 24P motion picture directors of photography. In future, a color management function shall be added to the system as a tool for effective motion picture production.
