‘I Am Not Your Negro’ Director Says His Film Is Like a Warning About the American Dream

The Creators Project talks to Raoul Peck about his Oscar-nominated documentary I Am Not Your Negro, which uses the words and archival footage of author and Civil Rights activist James Baldwin to discuss issues of race in America that feel very of-the-moment.

“This film is like a warning, a last chance,” says Peck. “It’s Baldwin saying, ‘As long as we don’t touch these core problems around the so-called American Dream, we can’t have a common future.'”
