The short documentary below profiles the life and work of artist Yayoi Kusuma, who channels her obsessive-compulsive disorder into her famed, colorful art.
“People ask me why I paint as I do, but I don’t know,” she explains. “I just paint and then it hits me, ‘Maybe that’s what I was thinking.’ It’s been like that all my life.”
The video was made in conunction with Kusuma’s exhibit at Stockholm’s Moderna Museet.
