How ‘Vinyl”s Narrative Resembles a Piece of Music

Boardwalk Empire executive producers Martin Scorsese and Terry Winter team up once again–this time joined by executive producer Mick Jagger–for HBO’s Vinyl. The ’70s-set show tells the story of record executive Richie Finestra (Bobby Canavale) and comes replete with the sex, drugs, and rock and roll of that industy in that era.

“It’s not a conventional narrative,” Scorsese said at TCA, as reported by Deadline. “It’s like a piece of music, but it’s like Richie is hearing his own soundtrack. What he hears, whether he wants to hear it or not. It’s cinematic in that respect.”
