I purchased a Glidecam HD-2000 about three years ago. I started out filming BMX and wanted to capture a feeling of floating next to the rider. I remember the first time I used it I was running next to a set of dirt jumps at full speed, capturing every BMX trick, weaving in and out of the jumps. It was the most amazing feeling in the world. I still have the same Glidecam today and haven’t had any issues with it. I use the Glidecam more than any other piece of equipment and recommend it to everyone.
I love the size of it, how it breaks down into three small pieces for travel, and how you can just strap it onto the back of your film bag. I film a variety of things and travel a lot, so the fact that it’s small and durable is key. I have lots of gear—drones, 12 foot jibs, sliders, etc.—but I always bring the HD-2000 along, no matter the size of the project. It makes action shots smoother and brings boring shots to life. Balancing is easy and quick, but if you can’t get the hang of it, there are some awesome tutorials online.
This is why I will stick with Glidecam: their customer service is awesome and the quality is top notch. You can’t beat it.
