FX has released the stunning opening titles for Ryan Murphy’s ucoming Feud: Bette and Joan.
The series, which depicts the notorious rivalry between actresses Bette Davis (played by Susan Sarandon) and Joan Crawford (played by Jessica Lange), opens with an animated sequence that pays homage to Saul Bass’s iconic ’60s titles and also sets up the story as not just a tale of two bickering woman, but a darker one that involves studio manipulation and more.
As Ryan Murphy told Entertainment Weekly, “I wasn’t interested in just doing this broad, campy [show]. I was interested in the idea of sexism, ageism, misogyny. Turning 40, 45, 50 and feeling like you’re at the height of your powers and people saying, ‘Well, you’re done.'”
