Editors of ‘Everest’ Endure the Storm

The post-production team behind Everest, which tells the tragic true tale of two doomed expeditions up the infamous mountain, recently spoke at an Avid event about the challenges of relaying scuch a hostlie environment to a film audience.

“We explored ways to make the audience feel this unescapable presence of the mountain and the storm whilst watching the movie,” explained sound editor Glenn Freemantle. “Looking back, there are a huge number of close elements of sound – these all contribute to every character’s personal struggle. It was a big challenge but we wanted the audience to endure this storm and that’s all down to unique elements, like the sound of snow-spray that takes you on an unbelievable journey up Everest.”
