David Attenborough: TV Might Be at the End of Technical Developments

Nature documentarian David Attenborough talks to Televisual about his long and storied career and his feelings on TV technology.

“The move from 405 lines to 5K is huge,” he says about television’s advances. “If you projected the programs I made in the 50s and put them on a screen the size of a house it would be intolerable, but with 5K you can. We’ve jolly nearly got everything we require,.We can do almost anything you can think of. You can film at night, you can film at the bottom of the sea, you can slow things down, speed things up and with CGI you can create anything you want. It’s a dangerous thing to say but as far as television is concerned, we are very close to the end of technical developments.”
