The new spot for paint company Dulux imagines a futuristic world where color is banned, and a young man and woman who dare to lead the color revolution. Director Daniel Wolfe took inspiration from the likes of Metropolis and Logan’s Run to craft the commercial.
Post-production house Glassworks worked on the spot, combining miniature models with CGI. They explain in a blog post, “[Wolfe’s] approach was from a mostly in-camera direction, with the bigger moves being reconstructed in CG. We worked with him from the beginning, experimenting on looks for the white city and testing techniques to turn existing locations into our colorless world. With our team on set in Kiev, detailed photographs were taken of each model building so they could be rebuilt exactly.”
