Cinematographer James O’Dea Loses Battle With Cancer

James O’Dea, a Michigan-based cinematographer known for histelevision commercial work with directors such as Larry August, JamesGartner, and Chase Strickland, has died. O’Dea passed away recentlyafter a lengthy struggle with cancer.

“Jim was a superb cinematographer who possessed a uniquely artisticeye and a great love of film,” says Lisa Holguin of Dattner Dispoto andAssociates, his agency for most of the past decade. “He’s going to befondly missed by the industry and everyone here at DattnerDispoto.”

O’Dea is survived by his wife Susan and sons, Tommy, a cameraassistant, and Sean, a cinematographer who is also repped by DattnerDispoto and Associates.
