LOOK Effects has announced they produced the visual effects for crime thriller Alex Cross.

Based on the best-selling novels by James Patterson, the film is directed by Rob Cohen and stars Tyler Perry as the young homicide detective in this taut, exciting story where Alex Cross meets his match in a ferociously skilled serial killer. Alex Cross stars an ensemble cast that includes Matthew Fox, Edward Burns and Jean Reno.

As an action/detective story, the film offered plenty of opportunities for visual effects, but it was not effects-laden. LOOK Effects produced more than 125 shots for the picture. They where brought on early enough in the pipeline to be able to work with the director and creative team in crafting effects that drove the story. Effects provided included explosions, set extensions and more.

“Our collaboration with the director and early inclusion in the planning made it more exciting for us,” says visual effects supervisor Derek Bird, “and more cost-effective and doable for the production.”
