Inside the Custom-Designed Space Sounds of 'Passengers'

In upcoming sci-fi film Passengers, Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence play two spaceship passengers being transported to a distant planet who find themselves mysteriously awoken 90 years before their arrival.

CineMontage talks to the film's sound department about creating the ambience of the space-set film.

“Everything on Passengers has a custom-designed sound. We wanted to stay away from anything that sounded stock," says supervising sound editor Will Files. "Those ambiences and reverb spaces for the ship interiors and outer space views complement the film’s highly developed space ship visuals."
