Fred Elmes, ASC Chats Live May 8 at ICG Site

Frederick Elmes, ASC will participate in a live Internet chat on the

International Cinematographers Guild’s (ICG) website

at on Sat., May 8 at 10 a.m. (PST).

Elmes is compiling an eclectic body of work, including many television commercials and music videos, e.g. “Moonwalker,” and some 30 narrative films such as “Rivers Edge,” “Night on Earth,” “The Ice Storm,” “Hulk,” “Coffee and Cigarettes,” and “Kinsey,” which is slated for release in the fall.

“This out-reach program provides an opportunity for people who work in the industry and fans to learn more about our art form, and the current and future issues that will affect the future of it,” says National Guild President George Spiro Dibie, ASC.

The monthly Internet chats are a popular forum sponsored by ICG for its 6,000 nation-wide members, students, journalists, other filmmakers and fans around the world.

Elmes earned graduate degrees from New York University and the American Film Institute, where he met directors David Lynch and John Cassavetes. Elmes began working with Lynch on “Eraserhead,” while they were both students. They have subsequently collaborated on such films as “Blue Velvet” and “Wild At Heart,” which earned the Independent Spirit Award for cinematography in 1990.
